For her sunglasses collection, Clarissa sought to merge Italy’s rich historical craftsmanship with a modern, glamorous vision. She personally explored how to transform handwoven velvets, crafted on 19th-century looms in Florence, into acetate using Italian Renaissance-inspired techniques.
Each velvet piece is specially treated on its reverse side in the Atelier, carefully cut to the edge without seams, and then embedded into acetate using permanent adhesives that remain strong even under water, heat, or cold. This meticulous process preserves the exceptional quality of the fabric—just as it has been preserved in the garments of Italian nobility still admired in museums today.
Clarissa also delights in experimenting with different materials, continually pushing the boundaries of craftsmanship and design.
